One third of the U.S. population in poverty! That’s not only horrifying, it’s unstable, opening the gates for the likes of Trump. Despite some gains, growth is concentrated and unequal, and the scars of a 9-year downturn remain. Rural poverty is unchanged, even as people abandon the countryside for a few rich cities (including Seattle).
