Thanks to Bonnie Williams at the Wallingford Community Council, we have a good picture of the upcoming process to consider the Comprehensive Plan. Bonnie asked for and received specifics from the office of Councilmember Rob Johnson, chair of the Planning, Land Use & Zoning (PLUZ) Committee.
- The next two PLUZ meetings that will be devoted at least partially to Comp Plan amendments are tentatively scheduled for August 16th and September 9th (9:30 AM at City Hall).
- There will be a public hearing entirely devoted to the Comp Plan at 2:00 pm on September 15th at City Hall.
- Johnson will issue a 44-page document of potential areas for discussion on Monday, August 15. This document will guide further discussion of the Comp Plan and amendments. It will include a neighborhood planning element (though the efficacy of those provisions is in question).
- Written comments are still being accepted.
We’re guessing the document to be issued next week will give us a look at the PLUZ committee’s thinking about what they have heard so far. We may be able to gauge to what extent public input has affected the Councilmembers’ thinking.
